Submission Guidelines

Length
Articles should be between 7,000 and 10,000 words in length, including citations and references. Book reviews should be between 1,500 and 3,000 words in length.

Preparation & Format
All text (including transliteration) should be in Gentium Plus true type serif font. Text in scripts other than Roman should be in Unicode fonts. Use 12 point font size in all cases, with a one-inch page margin, and all pages (including those with tables, diagrams, and other images alone) should be numbered sequentially. Footnotes are required, as is an end-of-article bibliography. Other points:
  • Single space, using one font only (serif) per script and one color only (black).
  • Left align (do not right justify).
  • Please make sure that all tracked changes or other revision marks have been accepted as final (no hidden text, comments, etc.).
  • No “soft returns” or forced line breaks.
  • No underlines, in urls or anywhere else. For emphasis, please use italics.
  • Do not use automatic hyphenation.
  • Do not apply styles. Default (“normal”) should be the only style in your document.
  • Block quotes should be formatted using the indent feature.
  • Do not use tables for text body layout.
  • Single space between period and start of next sentence.
  • Remove hyperlinks and all other formatting from text and footnotes.
  • Do not use tabs, forced line breaks, or any styles in text or footnotes.
  • If your document contains images, please supply the Journal of Global Hindu Cultures with the most high-resolution images available. For print, 300 dpi is ideal. Images pulled from websites do not print well.
  • Images will be printed in grayscale. Please be aware of this when using charts that depend on color for their interpretation.
  • If your work has an index, please type it in one long column, single-spaced, with no tabs or any style applied, and in this format: subject comma page. ex: Lincoln, Abraham, 36, 165-6
  • We cannot accept documents with equations inserted using Word’s Equation Editor; our layout program deletes them. Please make equations part of the text flow, and format them in Times New Roman or Minion Pro.

Referencing
Articles are expected to be the original work of the author(s) except where stated. Large Language Models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT do not fulfill this criterion. All reference to and quotation of published materials should be cited in accordance with the ‘Footnotes and Bibliography’ system of The Chicago Manual of Style. Authors are responsible to ensure that the initial through final versions of the manuscript conform to this style.

Abstract
A 200-word abstract must be included on the opening page immediately following the title, and between 5-10 keywords referring to the content of the article and/or relevant disciplines.

Biography
A brief biography should be included for the ‘contributors’ section.

Submission
Please submit the original article and an additional version of the article devoid of any identifying details to facilitate the double-anonymized peer review in both MS Word and PDF format to the editors at [email protected] for initial review. Expect to have a response about the suitability of the article to progress to initial screening within two weeks.

On a separate sheet of paper, please submit the contact details of the author(s), containing the full name and affiliation, mailing address and email address. In the case of multiple authors, please indicate the corresponding details of each individual author. Beneath this, please include any statements applicable to the method(s) of research and content of your article relating to our ethics policies and those of your institution of affiliation such as IRB processes, which may include any of the following:
  • data availability statement
  • funding statement
  • conflict of interest disclosure
  • ethics approval statement
  • patient consent statement
  • permission to reproduce material from other sources
  • clinical trial registration
